LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – Staff at Lufkin Memorial Hospital called police after becoming suspicious that a young patient was being abused.

According to Lufkin PD's Sergeant Scott Cagnon, a mother brought her little boy to the hospital Saturday night.  She told hospital staff that she noticed her son was bleeding.

An examination uncovered that the little boy had a severe case of a sexually transmitted disease.

Cagnon says their investigation of the incident is ongoing, and no arrests have been made. Officers have notified Child Protective Services about the case.
