A Huntington woman is dead, and her husband hospitalized after an accident just north of Huntington yesterday.
Witnesses say an 18-wheeler ran into the back of a car that was waiting to turn left into the Shady Oaks RV Park on Highway 69. 47-year-old Melody Lynn Glover was a passenger in that car, and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Memorial Hospital in Lufkin. Her husband, William Glover, was hospitalized but is said to be in good condition.
The accident blocked the northbound lanes of traffic as rescuers worked to free the Glovers from their vehicle. The driver of the truck was not hurt.
DPS Trooper Kevin Malone told the East Texas News that the driver has not yet been charged with anything, but that his blood sample has been taken, which Malone says is a routine practice.
Once the results of that test are back, DPS will decide what, if any, charges will be filed.
