European Union decides to freeze all Hamas assets

Riva del Garda, Italy-AP -- Nations of the European Union will declare all wings of the militant Palestinian group Hamas a terrorist organization, following dozens of deadly attacks on Israel.

The E-U had previously blacklisted only the group's military arm.But it agreed today to add the group's political offshoots, fund-raising charities and social welfare groups to the blacklist after last month's bus bombing in Jerusalem that killed 20 people.Officials at the E-U head office will meet Monday to discuss details of the blacklisting -- which requires the freezing of Hamas assets. They're expected to make the decision formal in the coming weeks.
