Volunteers converge on Ellen Trout Zoo to help with projects

LUFKIN, TX (News Release) - Brookshire Brothers will be teaming up with the Ellen Trout Zoo this Friday, March 25th for our annual Zoo Workday.

Brookshire Brothers employees will be getting "down and dirty" for a good cause.  Zoo personnel have outlined several projects that can be completed in one day by the Brookshire Brothers employees.

Employees are divided into teams and they work in a morning shift or an afternoon shift, and some even work all day.

"We feel that this is a great way to give back to our community.  We support a lot of communities in our marketing area, but this Workday holds a special place in our hearts.  We allow our employees to enjoy a day out of the office in the sunshine to help our neighbors across the street with some sweat equity and a whole lot of fun." says Emily Watts, Director of Public Relations.

"Our folks look forward to this day every year.  It's great to see what a group of people can accomplish in one day's time.  When we bring our families and friends to the Zoo throughout the year, we can say, "I helped build that deck, or I helped paint that fence, or even, I cleaned out that bear moat!  It's all in a hard day's work for a good cause."
