Authorities searching for man in Lake Livingston

TRINITY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

TRINITY COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - Law enforcement officers and emergency responders are looking for a man after it was reported he fell off a boat in Lake Livingston.

Authorities have identified the fisherman as Clarence Verrett of Louisiana.

According to the Trinity County Sheriff's Office, a call came in Friday around 10 a.m. that someone was missing in the lake, near Harbor Point subdivision, which is near FM 356.

Trinity Volunteer Fire Department and Water Rescue, a game warden and the sheriff's office have been dispatched to the scene.

Emergency responders began dragging the lake to find a body around noon.

Constable Woody Wallace confirmed in a text message that a man had fallen off a boat.

"He was apparently out checking trot lines," Wallace said. "Someone was fishing from a bridge and watching him. Then he looked up again and saw the boat going in circles and the man was gone."

Wallace said the search was called off around 7 p.m. and would resume Saturday morning.
