Center school receives 'all clear' after bomb threat

CENTER, Texas (KTRE) - A bomb expert has cleared a Center school following a bomb threat Monday morning.

Center ISD administrators evacuated a F.L. Moffett Primary School, located at 294 Stadium Drive, after a bomb threat was called in to the school around 7:10 a.m.

Students were taken to Center High School, where parents could pick them up if they wished.

A bomb squad from the Barksdale Air Force base in Bossier City, La., investigated the scene and gave the "all clear" around 12:15 p.m.

"I'm pleased on how smoothly things have run," said Superintendent James Thockenberry. "The patience that was shown from the parents of the students. I know this can be a scary situation. But things are under control. Things went really well."

"We're very proud of the school," Sheriff Newton Johnson said. "The in-depth plans they have for just said incidents like this that happen. And we put those into effect and it worked like a charm."
