POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - (FROM THE POLK COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE) - On March 27, 2011, around 1:00am the Polk County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call advising of a disturbance.
The disturbance was occurring on Darden Rd. at the residence of Daisha Tipton. The residence is located about 5 miles east of Livingston off 190 East. Deputies arrived on scene and found Gervin Polite, 31, of Houston, deceased on the front porch and the home owner Daisha Tipton was located inside the residence. Daisha Tipton, 32, of Livingston, was transported to the Polk County Sheriff's Office by deputies for questioning. Justice of the Peace Larry Whitworth held an inquest and ordered Gervin Polite's body be transported to the Harris County Medical Examiners office for an autopsy.
Officials with the Polk County Sheriff's Office advised the investigation into the death of Gervin Polite continues.
Chief Deputy Byron Lyons said no charges would be filed until they see results from the autopsy.
Lyons said Tipton and Polite lived with each other and had a romantic relationship.
Both have criminal histories, with Polite's including DWI, assaults and drug offenses. Tipton's includes two DWI convictions.
