Man dies after driving into trailer in Shelby Co.

SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

(KTRE) - A Carthage man died Monday morning after driving into a trailer on U.S. 84 in Shelby County.

Bruce Charles Combs, 69, who worked as electrical engineer, was pronounced dead at 9:35 a.m. in a Center hospital. Robert Chambliss, of Center, was not injured.

According to the Department of Public Safety report, Combs was driving a 2006 Ford pickup eastbound on U.S. 84, seventh-tenths of a mile west of County Road 3790, at 8 a.m. when he crossed the center line and struck Chambliss' trailer. Chambliss was towing the trailer with a 2007 Chevy pickup and was driving westbound.

Combs was wearing a seatbelt.
