LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – He's a former Angelina county jailer, accused of helping a prisoner escape.

Venoyd McCalister was arrested last February after reportedly giving an inmate a saw and a cell phone for $2,500.

He agreed to take a polygraph but backed out at the last second.

Wednesday McCalister stood before a judge who agreed to eliminate a bond condition requiring McCalister to wear a GPS monitor.

McCalister now awaits a trial date.
