Angelina Arts Alliance announces '11-'12 lineup


(Press release) - Angelina Arts Alliance will begin selling season subscriptions on April 15th for its 2011-12 line-up of events at the Temple Theater in Lufkin.  While single-tickets will go on sale for each show 30 days prior to every event, a season subscription is a guarantee audience members will never miss a sold-out performance.  The coming season of attractions is sure to delight longtime audience members and newcomers alike, with an exciting mix of wonderful artistic performances.

The Eleventh Anniversary Premier Series opens August 27th with Country Roads, the music of John Denver and Dan Fogelberg. Multi-talented singer/pianist and two-time Tony Award nominee Bob Stillman and his band pay tribute to two of Americas most popular and talented singer-songwriters of the 1970s.  

Mid-September brings in the high-voltage modern dance troupe, Rioult Dance/New York!  French-born modern dance choreographer Pascal Rioult (ree-you) is known throughout the dance world for his daring, imaginative and unique interpretations of well-known classical compositions such as Ravel's "Bolero" and Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring".  The show is stunningly performed by his remarkable ensemble of talented dancers,

Disney's Beauty and The Beast - the most beautiful love story ever told - comes to life for three performances this October. This lush, romantic Broadway musical is based upon the Academy Award-winning animated feature film that has won over the hearts of over 35 million people worldwide. This national tour is filled with unforgettable characters and dazzling musical numbers.

In December, our Christmas concert will be filled with the breathtaking harmonies of The Manhattan Transfer, backed by a big band and string section. The group sets a perfect tone for the holiday season with the beautiful arrangements of such favorites as "Let it Snow", "The Christmas Song", "Silent Night", and so much more.

As the New Year gets underway, the Arts Alliance brings back yet another timeless Broadway musical for two performances, Fiddler on the Roof. No other musical has so magically woven music, dance, poignancy, and laughter into such an electrifying and unforgettable experience. The Tony Award - winner has captured the hearts of people all over the world with its universal appeal.

Hailing from The People's Republic of China, The Peking Acrobats tumble their way onto the Temple Theater stage in March 2012.  The thrilling spectacle of talented tumblers, jugglers, gymnasts and cyclists leaves audiences spellbound with the graceful presentation of the ancient folk art of acrobatics.  The troupe is accompanied by skillful and live musicians playing traditional Chinese instruments.

And to wrap up this incredible beauty of a season, in April, the Arts Alliance will present an "extra" event to the East Texas community with Ernie Haase + Signature Sound, a tribute to the Cathedral Quartet. With their unconventional approach to communicating the Good News, The Dove Award - winning group is blazing a trail through the heart of southern gospel music with groundbreaking originality.  This show is not part of the subscription series.

In addition to the Premier Series there will be two Family Matinee events for everyone to enjoy.
