EAST TEXAS (KTRE) - Showers and thunderstorms are still ongoing across Jasper, Newton, and Sabine counties this afternoon, as a cold front continues to move south and east through the Piney Woods. These storms will cross the Sabine River and move into Louisiana later this afternoon.
Many areas in Deep East Texas avoided the severe weather, with reports of large hail and damaging winds confined to Northeast Texas and Louisiana. Many areas of the Deep South, including Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama will be in store for a widespread severe weather outbreak this afternoon, with the threat for large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes all possible.
Skies will be clearing out this afternoon as a north wind brings in some cooler temperatures behind our cold front.
