Trinity woman killed in rollover accident

POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A Trinity woman was killed in a single vehicle rollover accident early Saturday morning.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at 2:59 a.m. on FM 356 4.6 miles north of U.S. Highway 190 in Polk County.

A 1994 Ford Ranger pick-up driven by James Hepworth III, 28, of Trinity was headed northbound on FM 356 when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to overturn in the roadway.

His passenger, Catherine Eileen Schmidt, 31, of Trinity was not wearing her seatbelt when the vehicle overturned. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:15 a.m.

Hepworth was treated and released from Livingston Memorial Medical Center with minor injuries.

The accident is under investigation by Trooper David Flowers.
