LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Vonnecia Hayes, 33, was arrested by Lufkin police for aggravated assault/family violence Friday night.
According to the Lufkin police report, officers were dispatched to an in-progress disturbance at Hayes' and her domestic partner, Jamison Jackson's house. Once they arrived, officers say a fight had happened, but was over.
The report said Hayes slapped, and hit Jackson during a verbal exchange. Jackson allegedly tried to restrain Hayes by holding her arms. The argument then escalated when it moved to the kitchen area. That's when Hayes allegedly held a knife against Jackson's neck.
According to Jamison's statement to police, he was uninjured since she removed the knife from his neck when he told her to. However, the reports described that officers "observed injuries consistent with his account of the disturbance, including; a 'busted' and bleeding lip, and eyes that were 'very red as though he had been punched or poked in them'."
Officers felt Hayes had exhibited and utilized a deadly weapon during the assault, and she was arrested and booked into the Angelina County Jail for aggravated assault.
In a written statement by the alleged victim, Jamison Jackson, he said, "I told officers on the scene that I never felt that my life threatened in any way, and that the only reason they was called out was to escort Ms. Hayes from my apartment."
In a telephone call to KTRE, Jackson said Hayes was upset because she had found out he had been cheating on her. "The whole incident has been blown way out of proportion," he said.
