(AP) - The Texas comptroller says the Social Security numbers, some birthdates and other personal information of about 3.5 million residents have been accidentally posted on computer servers.
Most of the information - including driver's license numbers in some cases - was available for more than a year. It wasn't immediately clear how many people would have had access to the information.
Comptroller Susan Combs said Monday the information posted by mistake including data transferred by the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, the Texas Workforce Commission and the Employees Retirement System of Texas. All transfers were in the first five months of last year.
The statement says there is no indication any personal information was misused. The office plans to send letters notifying those affected on Wednesday.
