Attempted murder suspect arrested in Shelby County

SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - According to Sheriff Newton Johnson, on April 8, 2011 the Shelby County Sheriff's Department received information that a wanted fugitive from the Miami, Florida area was possibly hiding in the Shelby County, Texas area.  The information further revealed that the subject was wanted by the Miami, Florida Police Department on a warrant for Attempted Murder.

Sheriff Johnson made contact with the U.S. Marshal Service in Beaumont, Texas for assistance in locating the suspect.  U.S. Marshals Brian Lyles, Gene Rachal, James McNeely and Jeff Coulter responded and met with Sheriff Johnson at the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.

Through the resources of the U.S. Marshal Service, it was determined that the suspect was at a possible location in Center, Texas.  According to Sheriff Johnson, at approximately 9:00 pm Friday evening, Sheriff Johnson, Capt. Mike Towns, Deputy Tipton and Deputy Davis along with the U.S. Marshals went to a residence located at 411 Austin St. in Center, Texas.  Upon making entry into the residence the suspect was located and arrested without incident.

Sheriff Johnson reports that the suspect, 31 year old Marvin Rodriguez, was arrested on the Attempted Murder warrant out of Florida and transported to the Shelby County Jail.  A hold has been placed on Marvin Rodriguez and he is currently in the Shelby County Jail on No Bond awaiting extradition back to Florida.
