"Dude, everything is falling in!"
That exclamation from an Alvin hitter returning to the dugout during a 10-run second inning was a perfect description of Alvin's 15-4 win over Angelina College on Monday afternoon at Roadrunner Complex in Lufkin.
In AC's final non-conference game of the season, the Dolphins put together a string of bleeders, bloopers and seeing-eye grounders to amass 22 hits – 18 of them singles – against the Roadrunners. Ten of those hits came in a 10-run second inning that saw 17 Dolphins step to the plate.
With the 'Runners electing to rest most of their starting lineup, Alvin took the opposite approach, playing their regulars the entire game. Those starters took the opportunity to pad their offensive stats, with several Dolphins finishing with a multiple-hit game.
The Dolphins' Jordan Camel finished with three hits, including a pair of doubles and two runs driven in. Nathan Lyons added an RBI and three singles, Kevin Peters collected three singles and two RBI and Ben Coram doubled once and singled three times for Alvin.
AC's K.J. Semien finished with a double and a single and a run batted in; Seth Spivey drove in a run with an eighth-inning single; and Ryan Gunhouse added an RBI with a bases-loaded walk for the Roadrunners.
