Lufkin counselor starts walk for bone disease

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - He's walking from Lufkin to Conroe. On a mission.

With every step Lufkin licensed professional counselor Allen Rush is hoping to raise money for a cause close to his heart.

He's walking 105 miles to Conroe to support the Jack Wolf Foundation and plans to golf at the charity tournament on the final day.

Jack was Rush's great nephew who died when he was only five weeks old from osteogenesis imperfecta, also known as brittle bone disease.

"I think when you have the ability to do something you have the responsibility and so this is something I can do and hope that the folks who can support financially will feel like it's a worthwhile cause and maybe help out," Rush said.

Rush decided to do the walk as a soldier of the Texas State Guard.

He's walking on the weekends and plans to make it to Conroe by the end of the month.

The foundation funds medical research.
