Lufkin woman escapes alleged attempted abduction

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

(KTRE) - A Lufkin woman jogging Saturday morning called police after she says a man tried to abduct her.

She told police she was jogging on Old Gobblers Knob Road near Sunflower Street against the flow of traffic.  She says a Hispanic male driving a silver car crossed over to her side of the road.  Then, he tried to grab her while he remained in the vehicle.

According to the Lufkin Police report, the suspect "wrapped his arms around her waist".  She struggled against him, and was able to break free and run away.

Corporal Trent Sobolewski with LPD says the suspect did not say anything to her during the alleged incident.  He says this could be the start of something, so residents in the area are asked to call police immediately if they see someone suspicious or a car that looks out of  place.
