Declaration of Disaster threat in Cherokee County; burn ban also in effect

CHEROKEE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Judge Chris Davis has added a Declaration of Disaster Threat to its burn ban designation for Cherokee County in the wake of the growing number of wildfires.

In issuing the Declaration, Judge Davis wrote, that Cherokee County has not had rainfall for an extended period, with little promise of a change in the dry conditions in the near future, and the threat of large dangerous and fast moving wildfires, that it is necessary to issue a state of disaster solely for the purpose of implementing controls aimed at mitigating the hazard posed by wildfires.
