LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Angelina County jailer stabbed by an inmate at the beginning of April has returned to work.
His alleged attacker, William Colquitt, is still in the jail waiting to be transported to a maximum-security state hospital.
Just recently, a judge determined Colquitt was incompetent to stand trial for a Lufkin robbery last July.
The sheriff's office says jailers were checking on Colquitt when he stabbed Gary Amoe with a homemade shank.
Colquitt could be charged with aggravated assault on a corrections officer.
Amoe is resuming his normal security duties at the jail.
