HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Those who fought for freedom were honored Thursday evening in Houston County. More than 200 veterans are being recognized as part of "County appreciation month."
Veterans of the same wars sat together at the Crockett Courthouse, sharing stories. Present among the men and women who served our country -- two Pearl Harbor survivors.
"Without them we wouldn't have this country. We wouldn't have the freedoms we enjoy," said Fred Newtz, Veterans Service Officer.
County Judge Lonnie Hunt and Congressman Joe Barton thanked the veterans for their services.
Many of the veterans introduced themselves, and shared some of their own experiences.
