HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Monday night's severe weather is responsible for at least one death in Houston County after a Florida woman died when the vehicle she was traveling in struck a tree on the road, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Renee Miller, 53, of Cocoa, Fla., died at 3:25 a.m. Tuesday in a Crockett hospital.
According to the report, Miller was a passenger in a 2004 Hyundai SUV, driven by Rodney Lee Miller, also of Cocoa, Fla. Rodney Miller was traveling westbound on State Highway 21 at 11 p.m. Monday when he struck the tree, 6.2 miles east of Crockett.
With another round of severe weather possible Tuesday night, DPS spokesman Sgt. Greg Sanches is cautioning motorists to be extremely careful on the road.
"Weather could get bad again, and trees could be across the roadway again," Sanches said. "It can be really dangerous."
Sanches asked that if you see trees on the road, immediately notify law enforcement so someone can try to remove it to avoid more wrecks.
