GRAPELAND, TX (KTRE) - The Texas Attorney General's Office has now charged a former Grapeland city councilman with seven felony crimes against children.
Grapeland Police first arrested Aaron Pennington, 30, on April 5 on two charges of possession of child pornography and two charges of intention to possess child pornography. After he bonded out, he was arrested again on April 19 for a charge of sexual assault of a child and possession of child pornography. The attorney general's office slapped one more charge of sexual assault of a child on him while he was in the Houston County Jail.
The latest charges come on the heels after the first arrest, as investigators have continued to find more evidence on computer equipment to charge Pennington with the additional crimes.
The latest sexual assault of a child charge involves a boy under the age of 17, but over the age of 14. Investigators interviewed him on April 20, and showed the victim images of him engaging in sexual intercourse with Pennington, according to an arrest affidavit. The boy reportedly confirmed he had sex with Pennington.
The latest child pornography charge, filed on April 21, explains how investigators found numerous images of teenage male children on an external hard drive belonging to Pennington.
The Houston County Sheriff's Office is requesting members of the community to assist in identifying other victims of Pennington, in hopes of filing additional charges.
Pennington is out of jail on a collective $120,000 bond.
