ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Angelina County sheriff's deputies arrested a Fuller Springs man for the murder of his younger brother.

Gary Hodges, 52, was booked into the Angelina County Jail Friday night and charged with murder after his brother, Kevin Hodges, 46, was taken off life support.

According to Sheriff Kent Henson, Gary told investigators he struck his younger brother in the head three times Tuesday morning over a misunderstanding regarding Gary's wife. Kevin was stabilized at Memorial Hospital in Lufkin and later transported to Nacogdoches to see a neurosurgeon where he was put on life support.

Henson said his department put out a warrant on Gary for the assault Tuesday and Nacogdoches Police took him into custody hours after the incident.

Apparently Gary came home from work and saw his brother coming out of the back part of his Fuller Springs house at Boardwalk Place. Henson said there was a misunderstanding between the brothers over Gary's wife, Kristie Hodges, 44. Henson said Gary went into a fit of rage, hitting his brother in the head several times with a tire knocker.

Kevin died Friday night from his injuries. Authorities say Gary is responsible for his brother's death.

Henson said Gary has been cooperating with investigators and seemed remorseful Friday night. His brother's body has been sent to a coroner for an autopsy.

The case is still under investigation and will be sent to the grand jury.
