ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis Rams picked outside linebacker Jabara Williams of Stephen F. Austin and Oklahoma safety Jonathan Nelson on consecutive picks in the seventh round of the NFL draft.
The Rams used up most of their 10-minute allotment before winding up their selections on Saturday.
The 6-1, 224-pound Williams was the Southland defensive player of the year. Nelson, 5-11 and 198 pounds, became a starter the last three games of his junior year and had two interceptions and two forced fumbles as a senior.
St. Louis opened the draft by adding one of the top pass-rushing prospects, former North Carolina defensive end Robert Quinn with the 14th overall pick. They took Wisconsin tight end Lance Kendricks in the second round and selected wide receivers in the third and fourth rounds, getting Austin Pettis of Boise State and Greg Salas of Hawaii
