BROADDUS, TX (KTRE) -

(KTRE) -  A family reunion on Lake Sam Rayburn turned tragic late Friday morning near Broaddus.  San Augustine County Game Warden Jeff Cox says Austin Foraker, 19 of Huntington, drowned near the swimming area at Jackson Hill Park and Marina.

According to the park's owner, Terry Simpson, he was there for his family's annual reunion. Witnesses report Foraker looking distressed, then going under around 11:30 a.m.

His body was found a couple of hours later when the area was dragged by Texas Parks and Wildlife.  Game wardens and the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office investigated the scene.

"You know you have thousands of people come up and they're in the lake and in the water and so forth. Every once in awhile, somebody makes a mistake or something happens you can't explain. It's just a tragedy," said Simpson.

The owners of the Jackson Hill Park and Marina are raising money to help the family pay for funeral costs. If you're interested in donating, just call the office at 936-872-9266.

Funeral services for Austin Foraker were held Sunday at Carroway Funeral Home in Huntington at 2 p.m.
