LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin sex offender is back in jail after police say he changed addresses without notifying authorities.

Jermaine Oliphant, 30, is charged with failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

According to the arrest report, a Lufkin Police officer began trying to verify Oliphant's address in the 1400 block of Mathews Street, which he registered as a sex offender. The officer spoke with his father, who stated Oliphant lived with him at that address. The officer attempted to locate him again on April 12 and May 1 but only spoke to his father each time, according to the report.

The officer later received information that Oliphant was living with his mother in Diboll and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On Monday, police learned Oliphant was at the Angelina County Probation office and arrested him on the warrant.

Oliphant was sentenced to probation in 2009 on a drug conviction. In 1999, he was convicted of sexual assault of a child. The victim was a 13-year-old girl.
