LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A former head football coach at Lufkin High School has been inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame.
Pat Culpepper, who coached the Panthers from 1984-1991, was formally recognized in Waco over the weekend, along with Bobby Lackey, Junior Miller, Harvey Williams, Drew Brees, Quan Cosby and the late Emory Bellard.
Culpepper played high school ball for the University of Texas, before becoming a head coach at Northern Illinois 1976. He coached Midland High from 1980-83.
Culpepper compiled a 49-29-7 record at Lufkin.
