LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Diboll couple say they received a miracle this Mother's Day: their first baby arriving early Sunday morning.

"I was just so nervous and scared. Then it just sunk-in she was really coming. She was really mine. It was wonderful," said Jessica Pouland.

Addison Grace was supposed to arrive June 18th. That's why Jessica spent Saturday at a baby shower with family and friends.

"Everybody was watching me opening gifts. I would just tense up. They were like, 'oh, we're going to have a baby soon,' and I was like, 'no, we're going to finish this baby shower," said Pouland.

Then, they headed to the hospital.  Six weeks early, Addison, was delivered by c-section at 2 A.M. on Mother's Day morning at Lufkin Memorial Hospital.

It's policy that all babies born early are taken to a Shreveport hospital since their lungs can be under-developed.

To Jessica and her family, she's a real miracle baby since she wasn't even sure she could have them.

"Cystic fibrosis is a lung disease. It affects a bunch of different organs and I have the liver part and the pancreatic part," said Pouland.

She's suffered from the incurable disease since she was a baby.  She says she was always in-and-out of the hospital.

"It can cause infertility in women and males," said Pouland.

She was recommended not to have any babies due to her often sickly state.

"It was kind of like everybody thought just because you have it, you couldn't have a life," said Pouland.

However, life did happen for Jessica. She met and fell in love with her husband, Brandal.

"We had discussions we may never have a baby. He was ok with that," said Pouland.

She says they were blessed with their new baby girl.

So far the reports are positive about baby Addison who could be back home with her mom in a matter of days.

Jessica's nurse, Jo Ann Hunt, has been in labor and delivery for over 25 years.

"It's absolutely unique for a first time mom to have her baby on Mother's Day... I'm sure I've seen babies born on Mother's Day, I just don't know if it was a first time baby," said Hunt, RN.

Addison Grace Pouland's dad is with her at the Shreveport Hospital.  New mom, Jessica, has to stay in Lufkin to recover from her c-section.  Both are doing great so far.
