Lufkin man caught getting high on spray can at mall, police say

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police arrested a Lufkin man Wednesday evening after they say a security guard caught him lying down and getting high on a spray can outside the mall.

Blake Landon Broadway, 18, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.

According to the police report, a security guard at Lufkin Mall, located in the 4600 block of South Medford Drive, notified police that he discovered Broadway lying in a grassy area on the mall's property and that he had been inhaling the chemicals from a can of duster spray.

The responding officer reported to finding Broadway with two plastic bags, one containing a small amount of marijuana and the other containing several pills, later identified as over-the-counter antihistamine. On the marijuana bag, someone had written "Illegal substance (Top Secret)."

Broadway was booked into the Angelina County Jail and released on the fine-only misdemeanor charge and given a reappear slip.
