NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A trial date has been set for a Nacogdoches man charged in the abduction and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl.

Jury selection for the aggravated sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping trial for Leroy Diamond Jr., 42, on August 22. The trial is scheduled to follow on August 29, in Nacogdoches County District Judge Ed Klein's courtroom.

According to previous reports, Diamond was arrested in July 2010 following an investigation into a man offering a 15-year-old girl a ride when she was walking along Martin Luther King Boulevard on April 21. She accepted and gave him directions to her home. When the girl realized he was not driving to her home, she tried to jump out of the car, according to Nacogdoches County Sheriff Thomas Kerss. Diamond was able to restrain her and held her at knifepoint until he drover her to a cemetery located in the Woden area, according to Kerss.

Diamond raped the girl on multiple occasions, Kerss stated. Following one of the rapes, Kerss states the girl kicked Diamond in the groin and ran away.

Investigators were able to use a composite sketch and DNA sample from the victim to identify Diamond as the suspect.
