NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

A Nacogdoches married couple was booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail on Thursday following a grand jury indictment charging them with leaving six young children home alone for at least an hour in November.

Kimberly Evette Pruitt, 27, and Rontrel Jemond Pruitt, 29, are each charged with six counts of abandoning a child.

Nacogdoches Police began investigating the case in November when it was reported the children, aged between 2 and 8, were home alone in a residence on the 400 block of Oakhill Plaza Drive.

Police responded to the call and stayed with the children until two adults, which were not the parents, came to the home. Police released the children to them.

According to jail records, the couple were booked in the Nacogdoches County Jail on grand jury indictments on Thursday.

They were arrested at their residence Thursday evening. The grand jury indicted the pair on April 11.
