NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches Police have arrested a Missouri couple after an officer reported finding 42 pounds of marijuana in the gas tank of the vehicle in which they were traveling.

Maria Lucia Salinas, 19, and Sergio Salinas, 46, both of Burch Tree, Mo., are charged with a third-degree felony of possession of marijuana.

According to the police report, the officer stopped the Dodge pickup at 7:02 a.m. Thursday on the 1700 block of Southwest Stallings Drive.

The officer found 42 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle's gas tank, according to the report.

Lt. Dan Taravella said the couple, who are married, consented to a search of the vehicle and even consented to having it searched at a local body shop.

The marijuana was concealed inside the tank in such a way that did not get mixed with the gasoline.
