Lufkin church packed for U.T. student's funeral

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Not an empty pew Wednesday afternoon at a Service to Celebrate the life of 22 year-old Patrick Scott who died Sunday morning in a car crash near Angelina College.

Scott was a junior at the University of Texas in Austin. Many of his Kappa Sigma fraternity brothers drove across the state to attend the funeral.

The service at United Methodist Church of Lufkin began with family and pallbearers taking seats at the front.

Patrick's roommate says this has all been a big shock.

"Just one of the greatest guys anyone can ever meet. Taught me a lot, gave me good advice when I needed it. Try to remember him the best way we can, that's to honor him," said Jay C. Wheatcraft.

Patrick was born in Lufkin and graduated from Lufkin High in 2006 where he played football as an offensive lineman, # 77.  He earned the Eagle Scout award in 2006.
