A Timpson man arrested in December for stealing copper wire from an electric substation took a seven-month sentence Thursday in district court.

Matthew Louis Pate, 30, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and copper wire theft on March 23.

District Judge Campbell Cox sentenced Pate to two seven-month sentences, to be run concurrently in state jail.

According to a previous report, Pate and others stole the wiring during the night of November 19, at a Deep East Texas Electric substation located on County Road 106.

Authorities estimate they stole about 1,200 feet of wiring.
