LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A truck driver on the way to Houston met a traffic delay Friday morning when he lost his load coming around the horseshoe intersection at the crossing for U.S. 59 and Loop 287.
According to Lufkin Police officer Eddie Ibarra, Herbert Harrell Giddens, 43, of Humble, was driving an 18-wheeler around 10:50 a.m., with a crane boom loaded on it, around the horseshoe. The weight from the load shifted and broke the straps, making the load and the 18-wheeler tip off the road.
Giddens crawled out of the passenger window unhurt.
Ibarra cited Giddens for driving at an unsafe speed.
