POLLOK, TX (KTRE) - Friday was a historical moment for Central Independent School District.
For the first time in district history, every high school senior has been accepted into higher education.
All 96 students are expected to enroll in college or trade school or join the military.
The accomplishment was made possible through a program called GEAR-UP, Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs.
"They can be accepted, but they have to walk on the campus next year and actually make that dream come true and make that belief come true," said Central High School Principal Don Allen. "We can't do that for them, but I think we've given them the tools to be able to do that."
GEAR-UP has been working with every senior since seventh grade.
It's funded through government grants and designed to get students to think early about their options after graduation.
