Tiger owner is in fair condition; Tiger wakes from tranquilizers

New York-AP -- The man who was bitten by a pet tiger he kept in his Manhattan apartment is in fair condition at a Philadelphia hospital.

But the hospital won't comment on when he might be released.

New York City police say Antoine Yates faces reckless endangerment charges after he gets out.

His 400-pound tiger and a five-foot-long alligator also found in his apartment have been sent to animal sanctuaries in Ohio and Indiana.

The director of Noah's Lost Ark in Berlin Center, Ohio, says the tiger acted terrified when the tranquilizers started wearing off. She also believes it's the first time the tiger's been in a cage.

That's where the tiger will stay before the sanctuary tries to introduce him to the other 45 big cats that live there.
