POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

An Ohio woman died early Wednesday when the car she was traveling in struck a concrete median.

Verna Kyles, 56, of Columbus, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene. Ricky Jones, 44, of Columbus, Ohio, is listed in stable condition with internal injuries at a Houston hospital.

According to the Department of Public Safety report, Jones was driving a 1998 Mazda four-door a tenth of a mile north of Livingston and was traveling southbound on U.S. 59, at 3:10 a.m. He left the road onto the grassy median and went airborne before striking a concrete column and landing on a grassy area on the northbound side of Business 59.
