In an effort to meet the growing need for experts in the field of sound engineering and recording, Angelina College is now offering an Associate degree in Sound Recording Technology.
Course work will cover the fundamentals of live sound, including setup, EQ and mix and digital recording using the industry standard software Pro Tools.
Students will have the opportunity to run sound, record and mix down live performances as part of the curriculum.
Classes are taught through the Fine Arts department at AC and began during the Fall 2010 semester. Audio Engineering I will be offered this fall semester on Monday evenings.
Jim Taylor, a professional sound engineer in the East Texas area for more than 20 years, will teach the courses. Taylor has mixed and recorded sound for such noted performers as Willie Nelson, Tracy Byrd, Clay Walker, Jerry Jeff Walker and Dierks Bentley, among others.
There are no prerequisites for the introductory course and registration is available now.
