Huntington student signs letter of intent for Dallas Baptist University

HUNTINGTON, TX (KTRE) - He's run for years in the small town of Huntington, and now he's taking that speed to the big city of Dallas.

Red Devil Trent Smith signed a letter of intent today to run cross country and track for Dallas Baptist University.

Smith told KTRE that he chose DBU for their great track program.

"The campus is really great. I have a lot of friends there and I really feel like that's where I was supposed to be," he said.

"I'm happy for Trent that he's going to be able to move on after high school and experience some success," said Chance Edwards, Huntington Track and cross country coach.

Smith found the most success in Huntington during his senior year, where he finished third in the district in cross country.

He also won the district title in the mile run.
