Nacogdoches Medical Center is making significant improvements thanks to tenet being approved for the Texas Enterprise Zone project.
The state incentive program means tenet will receive a sales and use tax refund.
The savings will pay for investments that attract business, which helps retain existing jobs.
"Without this incentive we would probably have to kick a few of these projects down the road. On the technology side, we will always stay on the forefront of the medical technology, but in terms of upgrading our facility, this allows us to do that cost effectively," said Clay Farell, director of business.
Nacogdoches Medical Center has upgraded rooms, built new nursing stations, and is installing energy-efficient roofing.
Also a $3 million electronic medical records project is underway.
Imaging upgrades are happening too.
