Schwarzenegger's life: From humble boyhood to movie star to governor-elect

Los Angeles-AP -- Arnold Schwarzenegger's life reads like an improbable Hollywood script -- small-town boy from Austria takes up body-building, moves to America where he can barely speak English, wins lots of championship titles, becomes a big movie star, marries a pretty girl from a famous family, and eventually becomes governor-elect of the most populous state in the country.

But that's exactly what happened.Even his acceptance speech last night was reminiscent of a Hollywood premiere. Schwarzenegger was introduced as California's governor-elect by late-night host Jay Leno.He went on to thank hundreds of cheering supporters who included actors Rob Lowe and Gary Busey. He was surrounded by his wife Maria Shriver, mother-in-law Eunice Kennedy Shriver, and other members of the Shriver and Kennedy clans.
