LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Lufkin police arrest man for allegedly beating his girlfriend.  Isaiah Douglas, 30, is charged with assault causing bodily injury. This is not his first time dealing with authorities.

In January, police tried to arrest him on an outstanding sex offender warrant after conducting a routine traffic stop.  He tried to flee the scene, but officers caught up with him and he was charged with failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements, evading arrest, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and possession of a prohibited weapon.

According to the police report on Douglas' most recent arrest, his girlfriend tried to confront him for being with another woman.  He allegedly came out and dragged the victim to her car.  He got behind the wheel while, police say, he started punching her in the head and face.  Once they drove by a friend's house, she was able to get out of the car and hide.  Police report the friend tried to distract Douglas until the victim was able to flee the area.  She allegedly suffered black eyes, bruises and knots.

The friend called police to report the incident.  Police say the victim was not very cooperative with their investigation.
