A Lufkin man accused of stealing vehicle emblems from a Lufkin car dealership accepted a probation sentence in district court Tuesday afternoon.

Eduardo Gonzalez pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal mischief and one count of theft and accepted a five-year probation sentence.

According to police, Gonzalez and two others were in a vehicle which broke down on South First Street in January. Officers stopped to check on the vehicle and smelled marijuana, according to police. After a closer inspection, officers decided to detain the three. During a search of the vehicle, officers found eight vehicle emblems from Cadillac Escalades.

Officers concluded after a further investigation that the three stole the emblems from Peltier Chevrolet, located at 1710 S. First Street.
