RUSK COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - The Rusk County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Garrison man accused of using a child to keep authorities from arresting him.

Bradley Dale Koonce, 39, of Garrison, is charged with assault family violence by strangulation, endangerment of a child and resisting arrest.

According to a press release, deputies responded to a Rusk County residence on County Road 3253 at 3:30 p.m. on Monday in regards to a welfare concern.

Sheriff Danny Pirtle commended the work of deputies Cody Runnels and Ben Reynolds in saving a victim of family violence and arresting Koonce without injuring the child.
