NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches County district judge has set a trial date for a man accused of burning down his girlfriend's house.
Jury selection in the arson trial of Steven Lynn Skidmore, 46, of Quinlan, will be held on August 22, with the trial to start the following day. A pretrial hearing will be held on July 8.
Firefighters responded to the blaze on Dec. 17 around 6:30 p.m. on FM 1878. The home, which belonged to Tammy Gilbert, was a total loss. Gilbert said her two dogs died in the blaze.
Gilbert said Skidmore did not want her to go to a Christmas party her employer was holding, but she did anyway.
When Gilbert arrived at the party, she learned her house was on fire.
Investigators say witnesses placed Skidmore at the scene.
