LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin woman cleared of a murder charge was back in court Thursday afternoon for an unrelated manner, stemming from a 2009 arrest.
Kendall Jo Thompson, 20, is accused of trying to bring drugs into the Angelina County Jail, when she was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to prosecuting attorney Katrina Carswell, Thompson had two pills stuffed in her bra.
In Judge Barry Bryan's courtroom, a trial date on the charge was set for July 13. Thompson waived her right to a jury and Bryan will hear the case and determine a verdict.
A jury found Thompson not guilty of murder in May, in connection to a drive-by shooting death of a Lufkin man in January 2010.
