AUSTIN, TX (AP/KTRE) - It was a virtual slug fest for the Huntington Devilettes Friday morning in Austin as they took on the formidable Celina Lady Cats.
Shelby Carter hit a walk-off home run and Katelynn Drummond pitched an 11-inning complete game to lead Celina past Huntington 4-3 in the Class 3A state softball semifinals Friday.
Carter's drive over the left-field wall was one of just four hits for Celina (35-6-3) and made a winner of Drummond, who allowed nine hits and struck out five.
Erica Wright struck out 12 and retired 18 consecutive hitters at one point for Huntington (31-9).
Wright, who had three hits, retired the first Celina batter in the bottom of the 11th before Carter's shot sent Celina into Saturday's championship game against Wall.
