NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches man is in jail after police say he was driving drunk with eight children in his vehicle.
According to the Nacogdoches Police report, a caller reported at 7:33 p.m. that a Nissan pickup nearly struck another vehicle head on, on the 100 block of Old Tyler Road. Officers located the vehicle on the 2100 block of the same road and stopped it.
According to the report, officers discovered the driver, Lionso Rodarte Torres, 27, to be intoxicated, with eight child passengers, ranging in ages from 1 to 12. There were also four other adults in the vehicle, who were supervising the children. None of the children were restrained, according to the report.
Police did not suspect the other adults of being intoxicated and released the vehicle to one of them, who took the occupants to their residence.
Police arrested Torres on a charge of driving while intoxicated with a child passenger.
